Starting a Camfrog room.

You have all seen it, the fun and excitement
Camfrog rooms can be! You can meet and see
people from all over the world. The video is
superb and the audio works too!!

You want to have your own Camfrog room ! It would
be the coolest thing on the planet. You can make
friends and have a great time in your own Camfrog
room.

The BENEFITS :

1) Very fast video streams
2) Good quality audio
3) Decent control
4) Fairly large rooms can be hosted. (100-1000 users)

The DISADVANTAGES :

1) The server software is $200.00 USD

2) The “server” is dependent upon connection
through the Camfrog central server. It is NOT
a stand-alone server.

3) A basic 100 user room that is full most of
the time, costs around $100.00 per MONTH.

3a) Large rooms can cost $1,000.00 USD or MORE.

4) Very few people actually donate to room
expenses or upkeep.

5) Rude users keep popping in to bother your
regular users.

6) Affiliate program commissions have been REDUCED.

7) Dial-up users cannot see multiple cams.

Favoritism By Camforg Ownership

Sure, you can setup a server on your home PC and
get visitors. The number of visitors will be all
dependant on your connection’s UPLOAD Bandwidth.
If you have 300K upload bandwidth, you can host
a 5 user room where all people in the room can
see Laggy Cams, assuming they all have the Pro
client.

IF you want more people in your room, you MUST
get off site hosting, with a decent server and
bandwidth. This may or may not include “Setup fees”.

BANDWIDTH is what servers run on. Think of it like
petrol or gasoline. Each user viewing one cam, has
a straw and is siphoning off a little gas each second.
Each cam open = 1 straw. Pro clients can open up to
100 cams. Hosting providers limit the bandwidth you
get each month. You pay EXTRA when you go over the
allotted amount. Rooms can go over the amount easily.

With 100 users all opening 50 cams, your bandwidth will soar. Some hosting companies charge $1.00 USD per gigabyte you exceed your bandwidth allocation. Busy rooms can eat 50 GB in an hour. $50.00 USD. That can add up FAST. Can you afford $50.00 USD per day?

Large rooms can and DO run $700.00 USD or more, per month.

Subscription Rooms

They have been tried. Unless you can guarantee a level of material the subscribers want on a constant basis, give this idea up now.

Administration

You also have to administer rooms that you own/host.
This is for two reasons:

1) If you run an “adult” room, children must be
excluded from entering and viewing material
that may be illegal in their place of residence.

2) Users will bother other users, good users need
to be protected from harassment. Bad users
need to be disciplined. This takes time and
energy.

3) Language problems. Every country on the planet
can access your room, unless you have actively
blocked certain areas. The cannot read your room
rules, nor will they understand why they are
disciplined.

Yes, with server Pro, you can assign operators (OP’s).
But you must choose your OP’s carefully. They all
reflect on your room in some way. Some OP’s show
favoritism towards certain users. This makes other
users unhappy. Another problem to deal with.

Ego

There is also the “I want to have the BIGGEST room
on Camfrog” mind set. Some people equate large numbers with “quality”. Trying to have a big room is really no task at all, simply allow everyone in to your room. It will cost you money. What do you, or your regular users get out of this? Notoriety, yes, but fortune, no.

Affiliate Program

Camfrog has an Affiliate program with SELLSHAREWARE. The commissions have been dropping recently. In addition the ability to purchase Camfrog using Paypal, has been implemented. Sales going through Paypal ARE NOT CREDITED to your Affiliate ID. They go directly to Camfrog. Zero commission on Paypal sales.(they are not Sellshareware)

Legal

Video chat is still a gray area where Adult content is
concerned. It is being decided in courts around the
globe as we speak. Can you afford to defend against
legal challenges if your room becomes the target of an
investigation?
